Free IT school in Las Piñas

Educating Las Piñeros is one of the main projects of the Aguilar family being in politics for several years in a row. Previously, the Mr. and Mrs. Aguilar, who both became Mayors of the city already, have reconstructed the old public schools and have created new schools for the people of Las Piñas City. And of all the schools in the city, it is the Las Piñas TESDA and Don FC Aguilar College whose been the highlight of the project. For what i know, the Las Piñas TESDA is a free learning institute with technical and vocational courses offered to Las Piñeros of all ages. While the Don FC Aguilar College offers free college scholarships to poor but exceptional graduates of the city’s public high school. Through these years, a lot of smart students and eligible residents of the city benefit from this project.

However, the Aguilars didn’t neglect the poor and average students of the city. “Those smart kids are already assured of a future. But those whose grades range fom the 70s and below are not. I want to make their dream of going to school a reality” Mayor Aguilar said in an article about the free IT school in Inquirer. Don FC Aguilar Information Technology Training Institute, a 3-storey building with 25 state-of-the-art classrooms, 13 of which are computer rooms opened its door to 1,742 students last July 21, 2008. The school offers web development, graphic animation and design, programming, and networking courses. Subjects on personality development and technical writing are also included in the programs. The school is located inside Doña Manuela subdivision so the Mayor also provided free tricycle rides for the students accessible from the main road of the city.

Upon reading this news, i was really happy about how the Aguilars value education and how they have served the city greatly for years. I won’t say they are not corrupt officials because i believe all officials have done something related to corruption. However, the Aguilars have proven to be good and reliable that’s why the people loved them and they never stepped down from the moment Nene Aguilar was voted as Mayor way back in the 90’s (and that includes Cynthia Aguilar-Villar being congresswoman after former congressman Manny Villar stepped into the Senate). Well i guess the Aguilars will continue to stay in the politics for years not because they are corrupt, smart, rich and powerful but because despite all these, they were able to do their part by serving the people and gaining their trust and loyalty. In my point of view, the Aguilars are really good in budgeting and handling money that’s why they are really rich and that’s why they were able to do a lot of projects for the city and most of these if not all were funded from the city government savings and not loaned from anywhere (take as an example the new IT school which was said to cost P85 million but was built using the city government’s savings fund). I, being a resident of Las Piñas City for at least 16 years now, am proud and happy with all the helpful projects done by the Aguilars for the people of the city. I’ve not only read about these projects in the newsletter that the city government sends to everyone quarterly but i’ve also seen some of them already. And with regards to the free IT school offered also to poor and average students, i think that the Aguilars have proven their dedication in servingthe people of the city and will truly stay not only in the hearts of those students but in all Las Piñeros.
