Due to a slow winter season, a man said he was compelled to decrease the size of the company’s dog pack by 30 percent which led to the mass killing of sled dogs. An employee of Outdoor Adventures in Canada admitted to slaughtering 100 dogs by shooting and knifing the animals and dumping them in a mass grave in April 2010 in a course of 2 days after suffering from a post-traumatic issue.
This news spread around the world and broke the hearts of many people and re-energized efforts of by some animal activists to ban or boycott dog sled rides, a popular activity among tourists in many winter vacation spots.
Outdoor Adventures Whistler, issued in a statement that there are no longer firearms on the site, and in the future, sled dogs will be euthanized in a veterinarian’s office.
