Microblogging is currently a big hit to bloggers and other web users. Its like a mini blog that lets you post an update for around 140 characters more or less. Updates can be done via the web, IMs, SMS, email, and desktop clients. The usual feature is allowing you to see and reply to other’s posts and let them see and reply to yours too. Add on features would be posting pictures, videos, sounds and other stuffs aside from the usual text post. Features vary depending on which microblogging platform you’ll be using. The current most popular one is Twitter followed by Jaiku and Pownce.

I’m a Twitter user and has been an avid twitterer since then. I even put up my own Twitter blog and directory for my fellow Filipinos. Twitter has been the most popular microblogging platform and with its popularity and success a lot of microblogs popped out from every corner of the web. They described themselves as twitter-likes, twitter clones, or twitter plus more. Some offer the same service as Twitter’s and some offers even more features. So i guess its up to the users on which microblogging platform they’ll want to use probably depending on the design, the features, and the people. As for me, though i already tried to sign up on some just to check them out, Twitter will still be my main microblog. I’m still very satisfied with it and since i started with it already, it will be very hard to leave everything behind. Besides, i’m already used to calling my microblog updates as tweets/twits ;)

Here’s a list of some microblogging platforms out there (in English content). You may sign up and start trying out their service though there’s some that require invites to get an account.

Right… I haven’t posted anything for weeks! Except for my short updates on Twitter. Hahaha so that’s what i call microblogging being so useful and convenient. I can update anywhere i am – at home, at work, or on the road – with my pc or my phone. And i can say anything from being so bored, to my happy thoughts, about what I’m currently doing, about where I’m currently at, and simply any random thought. Sweet isn’t it?

So my blog doesn’t just show whatever long post i have but it also shows all my short updates via the microblogging system called Twitter. I just love Twitter and needless to say, i’m so hooked on it.  I’ve seen another one for microblogging called Jaiku which was recently acquired by Google. Looks neat and nice and pretty much like Twitter but i guess i’ll stick to Twitter. Besides,i think saying Twitter/Tweets/Twits etc.. is much cuter and well i don’t have any reason to leave Twitter. It serves it purpose and i’m satisfied with it. And of course, my Twitter blog – PinoyTwitterS.com – , it shows my dedication to Twitter and all pinoys out there who finds it useful and are hooked to it like me…

So if i haven’t updated here… Just check my Twitter updates on my sidebar. It sure is updated almost everyday.. hehehe ;)

Its been some months now since i put up my twitter blog – PinoyTwitters. “Its where I share twitter-related ideas or information as well as Filipino-made twitter services to everyone in an unbiased, informative, and personal point of view and allow open discussions about it.” as i’ve said in the website. So far, i would say its been a successful blog, looking at its goal. I am able to talk to fellow Pinoy Twitters and even make some new friends. And i’m sure a lot others are experiencing the same too. Plus, there’s this three Filipino services that came up to help Pinoy Twitters enjoy twitting. The first one is Godie’s TWIT2948 which he gladly shared to everyone and continues to develop for everyone’s benefit. Another is PHtwitters – though i never knew who the person behind is, i’m still glad he was inspired to put up phtwitters website to serve users who will be using the personal service he made for Pinoy Twitters. Third is the Filipino made mobile messenger YehBA* – i’m a user of it and was initially using its IM service through the Jabber network to update my twitters when i’m on the go. Recently they launched a special service on the application for twitter. I’m not sure why they put it up but still i’m glad they did.

Anyway, i’ve got my next question up on PinoyTwitters – “Why do you use twitter?” and answering it myself, well, for me its fun using twitter. It’s like a mini blog or a quick blog where you can post any short message or update on what you’re doing or on what’s happening or what you’re thinking about – that are too short to be posted as a blog post. I don’t know, but in a way i got addicted to it. Any thought i have on my mind, i twit it up always. Plus its nice coz i get to meet new friends and be able to twit with them :)
